MEDICAL AID from R 1,200 p/m
Medical aid is the more expensive type of cover. It pays for healthcare costs both in and out of hospital according to specific tariffs. Medical aid pays your doctor, the hospitals and for diagnostics investigations like blood tests and scans.
HEALTH INSURANCE from R250 p/m
Health insurance is a cheaper form of medical cover. It pays the patient a cash sum for each day in hospital. This payout can be used as the patient chooses - to cover medical expenses or pay personal bills. Health insurance is NOT medical aid.
GAP COVER from R 350 p/m
Gap cover is a shortfall protection for medical aid members. Since some doctors and other healthcare providers may charge higher rates than medical aid tariffs, medical gap cover pays for the shortfall so that the patient is not held liable.
